Adsense Terms: What you know will profit you!

Just because you sign up for Google Adsense to display ads on your website, doesn't mean that you will generate lots of income. There are many tricks to the trade and understanding Google's Adsense terms, will ensure you more profit. But, what do all of the terms mean? The purpose of this article is to explain what the terms mean and how you can utilize this information to generate more revenue.

There are five terms that you must understand to fully benefit from Google Adsense. The five terms are listed on your statement after you login in. These five terms are page impressions, clicks, page CTR, page eCPM, and earnings. These change on a daily basis and if you want to get a full overview of a month's stats, you will need to choose last month on the drop down menu next to view.

The first stat is page impressions. Page impressions are considered the number of times your website's pages with Google ads published on them are viewed. Therefore, if a visitor comes to your website and reads one of your pages, this would be considered one page impression. An impression is not a click and the visitor does not have to click on the ad for it to be considered a page impression. Page impressions will increase as the number of visitors (targeted traffic) to your website increases. The more visitors you have the more people are going to view your pages with Google ads on them.

The second stat is clicks. Clicks are considered the number of times your website's visitors clicked on Google's ads. Of course, the more clicks you have, the more money your website will generate for you. There are techniques that can actually work to increase the number of clicks that you get. Google actually generates an optimization report that will help you with understanding these techniques.

The third stat is page CTR. Page CTR (click-through-rate) is considered the percentage of viewers that click on your ads off of your website. Again, this rate can be increased by understanding the techniques in optimizing your website. By changing the color, format, or location of your ads, the page CTR can drastically be improved.

The fourth stat is the page eCPM. Page eCPM (cost per 1000 page impressions) is considered an estimate on the percentage of earnings you would make if you had 1000 page impressions. Why is this important? This is important in predicting future revenue off of your ads if you are receiving heaps of traffic. For now, this number will not mean anything to you.

The fifth and final stat is earnings. This is your profit and what you have made off of participating in the Google Adsense program. The earnings are of course a number that you will check on a daily basis. In the beginning, your earnings will probably not be very high, but after you generate traffic and understand the ins and outs of Adsense, it will increase drastically.

Out of all of the terms described in this article, the three most important for you to focus on are the page impressions, clicks, and of course, earnings. All of these three need to increase over time for you to start generating a decent income off of Google Adsense.

Google Adsense: Not just copy and paste

How many times have you seen an ad campaign running for "Google Adsense" that makes it sound so easy to make revenue by just copying and pasting their code onto your website? After all the research I have done on Google Adsense, I finally realized how it is not that easy just to copy and paste. There is much more beyond this that must be done in order to make Google Adsense revenue.

The following are techniques that must be implemented in order to really make money with Google Adsense:

Tip #1

Design a website that is Google Adsense friendly. In other words, make sure that your website has much content that is keyword rich and make sure your keyword density is decent. Make sure that you are using the most beneficial keywords for your niche. Try to choose keywords that cost more for pay per click. For example, if a keyword such as "dog training" cost $2.00 per click to run an ad campaign, you can be well assured that you will make around half of that per click. By choosing the top competitive keywords, you will increase your Adsense revenue considerably. Once indexed, Google will then be able to known what correct ads to place on your website.

Tip #2

Generate traffic to your website using a number of different techniques.

Writing articles: By writing articles at least once a week and submitting them to article directories such as Ezine. The more article directories that you submit to, the more back links you are creating for your website. You can pay for article directory submission, which can cost as little as $80 every quarter.

Search Engine Directory Submissions: By submitting your website URL to search engine friendly directories, you are creating back links back to your website. Make sure that you only submit to search engine directories with a Google page rank of four or higher. You can pay around $11.00 per website to submit to 100 directories with a page rank of four or higher.

Create ads: By publishing classified ads, you are advertising your website and creating back links back to your website. US Free Ads and Domestic Sale are two places that you can submit your ad to for free.

Just remember back links, back links, back links!

Tip #3

Google Adsense ads can be published and designed in a wide variety of formats. When displaying your ads, decide upon a size that would be best suitable for your website. There are different sizes to choose from. There are also different fonts and colors you can use to create your ads. Try to use a color that blends in well with your website. Also, although borders can be used, many web publisher's state on forums and blogs, that once they removed their borders, they had more clicks on their ads.

Tip #4

When displaying ads on your website, it is best to place them in a place where visitors can review them. One good place to display your ads is somewhere at the top of your website. A lot of web publishers use the top left corner for displaying Google Adsense. However, when you go to a website, what is one of the first things you look at? Could it be how the website is navigated by its menu? That is why another great place to display your ads could be near the navigation menu.
